El Alto seeks ideas for arts and culture plan

Most Inwood and Washington Heights residents travel down to 125th Street’s Magic Johnson movie theater to watch the latest premieres, since the majestic Coliseum Theater at 181st. closed its doors in 2011.

In an attempt to fulfill the folklore and artistic needs in the area, local residents, art lovers and culture administrators gathered at the iconic United Palace to seek for the community’s ideas on building a cultural plan for the neighborhoods of Northern Manhattan.

The Northern Manhattan Arts and Culture coalition works together with the City’s Department of Cultural Affairs, which works on CreateNYC, a comprehensive cultural plan for the five boroughs.
