With this corporate entity, I promote media literacy, community well-being, and a sense of belonging among disadvantaged groups through technology initiatives and experimental journalism designed for bicultural audiences in the D.C.-NY metro area. I seek to balance power dynamics and strengthen marginalized communities by using information technologies to develop tools like Eagle Eye, journalistic initiatives like WHYY News’ Primer Estado, and other media and civic engagement programs.
(October 2025 to Present)With financial support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and The Commonwealth Fund, I was in charge of two separate journalism initiatives aimed at Latino audiences in digital ecosystems in the state of Delaware and for the general public at the national level on health equity. I lead the designing, creation and implementation strategies for a new digital space on WhatsApp aimed at Spanish-speaking Latinos in Delaware, the translation of journalistic content from English to Spanish for online distribution, the production of informational events, and the commissioning of reporters to cover on Latino health, equity and systemic barriers aside from coordinating their deadlines for the national podcast The Pulse.
(December 2024 to September 2025)I was the first Dominican to hold the position and the second journalist to lead the national impact initiative since the center's founding in 2012. There, I created strategies to support business development in the Latino media ecosystem, fostered collaborative relationships with partners in key locations across the country, and assisted in the search for grant programs, report writing, research development, and training programs needed to improve Latino journalism in the United States.
(June 2023 to May 2025)As a Lenfest Fellow, I created a coverage area to improve the news services for Latino communities in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Through this initiative, I cultivated relationships with community leaders who were either unfamiliar with the newspaper or reluctant to engage with its operations. I founded El Inquirer, a Spanish-language digital news product, and also ideated and conceptualized a new reporting team dedicated to covering Black, Arab, Asian, and Latino communities. This team hired four new journalists and attracted $600,000 in grant funding. I received a special Keystone Media Award from the Pennsylvania News Media Association.
(June 2018 to August 2022)During this fall internship, I worked with journalists from South America and Spain for the leading newspaper serving Hispanics in New York City and the surrounding market. There, I curated news content for the newspaper's website. I also conducted interviews and produced local news stories of interest to the Latino communities in NYC and covered issues of concern and need regarding health and the environment.
(September to November 2017)I worked as an international reporter for the media outlet's Latin American division, based in the District of Columbia, where I covered breaking news on the political and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, researched and published multimedia pieces for the web on science and environmental issues in Latin America and the Caribbean, produced social videos and interactive graphics for the web and for social media, and interviewed and translated content from Spanish to English.
(June to July 2017)I worked on general productions, on reports on the Dominican diaspora and in the coverage of science and nature in the Caribbean: for Diario Libre as a reporter on transnational science and for HITN as a crawl operator for the coverage of the 2016 presidential elections, as a production assistant for the coverage of Trump's inaugural ceremony and as a production coordinator of the public service announcement for ThriveNYC.
(April 2016 to June 2018)After returning to New York City, I produced a series about Dominican life in the so-called capital of the world, alongside Renato Brea and Francis Mateo. I produced a 10-episode season for an independent multimedia project about Caribbean diaspora traditions and culture in one of the world's most complex cities. I organized 4 to 6 hour long shoots on weekends with an 8-member technical and artistic team. I edited and proofread ten scripts and videos in post-production for the series' first season. I created, published, and scheduled content shared on social media and the YouTube channel. I also prepared social media metrics reports.
(June to December 2015)I secured this internship in New York City with the largest non-profit organization that protects natural spaces and biological reserves worldwide through private investment. There, I produced content for weekly social media posts, particularly for The Nature Conservancy in New York's Twitter profile. I conducted online and traditional media research to support the team with developing approaches and discussion points for media outlets, journalists, and representatives from New York City and the state government. I helped create The Nature Conservancy in New York's image archive and added keywords for content searches within it. I also prepared social media and media analytics reports and monitored two corporate email accounts daily.
(June to August 2015)I worked on the production of printed and multimedia materials for the most emblematic cultural center in the Caribbean. I created and distributed finished products in various formats for internal and external audiences, sharing them through traditional media, social media profiles, and the website www.centroleon.org.do. I edited and proofread final products of various types, including texts, photographs, videos, graphics, books, catalogs, audio recordings, and interactive materials. I also produced the Centro León style guide and its workflow for publishing editorial materials.
(June 2014 to March 2015)In my first opportunity doing radio, I produced original content for a regional program from my beloved city of La Vega. I gathered, produced, edited, and broadcast news for a two-hour live news magazine, airing Monday through Friday. I hosted and edited short segments and interviews for the station's programming. I participated in production discussions with the station's program and news directors.
(January to May 2014)I was one of three journalism and/or communications students selected for the annual regional internship, based in Santiago, Dominican Republic. There, I gathered and wrote news stories for the six sections (local, national, sports, economy, culture, and entertainment) of the newspaper and the Zona N magazine. I edited the El Norte section, which was published every Friday. I participated in editorial meetings and discussions for the El Norte news section. And I won a national journalism award for a series of reports on sustainable tourism published in 2013.
(July 2012 to July 2013)For the annual film festival called “Semana Más Corta”, coordinated the Script – Writing, Arts and Entertainment, Photography and Camera Direction units, a 32-member team, aside from editing scripts, graphics, designs, photographs and video packages in a production cycle off and during the live event.
(January to June 2012)After working as a writer for the publication, I was chosen as editor-in-chief for the online newspaper of the School of Mass Communication at PUCMM in Santiago. I managed 10 students who worked as writers, photographers, and graphic designers for the School of Communication's online newspaper. I edited all the content published on the website, managed the social media agenda and strategies, and coordinated live coverage of academic events. I also oversaw the creation of a new brand identity and image strategy for the publication.
